The act of aggression against unarmed civilian peace activists carrying toys and cement for the people of Gaza MUST not go un-noticed. 1) Please note the letter below and adjust as you feel appropriate. Urge your MP to call for this emergency debate: we want assurances that the matter will be investigated, reparations paid, perpertrators prosecuted and to allow all aid to be delivered unhindered to Gaza this time and in future. This is an act of piracy and lunacy by the racist occupying regime and they must be bough to account. 2) The BBC coverage on News 24 this morning (headline 10.15am & 10.30am) is typically pro-Israeli. The female reporter in the studio was clearly towing the Apartheid Regime line while the reporter in Gaza was a bit more dignified. The BBC is portraying this as a Turkish - Israeli confrontation forgetting that the MV Rachel Corrie set sail from Ireland and that there are peace activists from 0ver 30 countries aboard the flotilla. Contact the BBC and ask them to have the decency to get some representation from the people and/or politicians in Gaza. BBC: 0370 0100 222 or 0208 624 9111 3) Bradford Palestine Solidarity Campaign scheduled their 2010 AGM for tomorrow (Tuesday 1st June) 6.30 at Desmond Tutu House (Anglican Chaplaincy opp Bradford Uni). The AGM will be an opportunity to discuss action & activities so please come along. Remember the sacrifice of those who have lost their lives delivering aid to Gaza today: it will not be in vain if you do something - today is not a holiday, it is your opportunity to play your part. Love & Peace Nafees Dear ______ ______ MP,
I write on behalf of the many members of __________ to ask you most urgently to protest to the Foreign Office at the British government's failure to intervene with Israel to demand safe passage for the Gaza Gonvoy of unarmed ships carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza, with civilian supporters from 40 countries on board, including British citizens.
We now ask you to insist the British government condemns unreservedly Israel's brutal attack on the Convoy in international waters which has led to the loss of life and injury of unarmed peaceful protesters. This is in line with Israel's consistent flouting of international law and commission of war crimes against the people of Gaza, and Palestine at large.
Please will you demand that an emergency debate on these events be scheduled immediately.
Yours sincerely, Bradford Palestine Solidarity Campaign |
