Visit to Gaza open to all University of Bradford students!! Since 2007 Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza barring people, goods, aid and much needed materials like cement, which would help to rebuild homes and schools, from entering or leaving Gaza. On Sunday the 28th of December, the Islamic University of Gaza was bombed, destroying 2 six storey bulidings which housed the laboratories belonging to the colleges of IT, Engineering and Science. Amongst other outcomes, we note that this is having a detrimental impact on student life, simple resources such as textbooks and paper are barred from coming into Gaza. In addition to this the psychological effects suffered by many young Palestinians lead to them not being able to partake in their studies. The Universal Decleration of Human Rights promises equal rights to all including "the right to education" (The Universal Decleration of Human Rights, Article 26) and so we, as the University of Bradford Students Union wish to show solidarity with our fellow Palestinian students. These were the beliefs that led to the twinning of the University of Bradford Student Union with the Islamic University of Gaza. The motion went on to make resolution for the future and we believe this delegation will begin to fulfill those resolutions. We aim -: - To have a delegation of students and staff from the University of Bradford who will form the "University of Bradford Union delegation to Gaza" - The delegation will deliver workshops and presentation to Palestinian students at various Universities and Colleges within Gaza. - The delegation will aim to provide educational resources to a variety of Universities and Colleges in Gaza to supplement and help the Students who study there.
